Stories of hope

Walter, kidney recipient

Walter and family in the National Donor Memorial

Walter suffered kidney failure at age 19 and received a living donation from his father, lasting 28 years. In 1999, Walter resumed dialysis for six years until receiving a second transplant on March 5, 2005.

“Because of my donors, I have been blessed to enjoy 66 years of life. I’ve spent 45 years with my loving wife, Linda, and we have enjoyed raising four beautiful children and eight grandchildren. Thank you to UNOS and the work that you do, so others can live to tell a story such as myself.”
