The Ripple Effect of Donation

Parents with 2 young children wearing Donate Life t-shirts

In 2014, at the age of 25 Lisa was hours away from dying due to acute liver failure when she received a life-saving liver transplant from her donor, Courtney Sterling. Lisa has built a close relationship with her donor family and she and her husband, Reid call her donor’s parents their Godparents.

In 2018, Reid being so touched by the extra life, time, and memories that was given to Lisa through organ donation decided to pay it forward and get tested to see if he was a match for a friend in need of a kidney. Reid was indeed a match and on 12/11/18, Reid became a living kidney donor granting continued life to his friend, Jon who is now living an active and healthy life.

In 2019- Reid and Lisa welcomed home their sons, Frank and Blaise from Burundi, Africa through adoption. If it wasn’t for the gift of life that Courtney has given to Lisa we would not be able to give new life to these sweet boys.

Organ donation has impacted every part of our lives and it is truly the most beautiful gift.
