Stories of hope

Rebecca Duboise: My transplant story

Transplant recipient, Rebecca

I was 28-years-old living a very active lifestyle. I was shaken to the core when I was diagnosed with FSGS. I ate clean and took care of my body. Twenty-one-years later after having two kids my kidneys finally failed. I taught yoga and worked in the dental field while I was on dialysis. I eventually stopped working but I continued to do yoga and teach occasionally.

After a year and a half of dialysis, I received the call and got my kidney, who I named Kobe, on October 25, 2022.

I never let my illness hold me back. I got married while on dialysis in 2022. I’m forever grateful to my donor for giving me my freedom back. With the support of my family and friends I hope to participate in the world transplant games in a few years .
