Stories of hope

Raimundo Anderson: My real life hero

I was diagnosed with end stage renal disease at the age of eleven. My mother donated her kidney to me and it lasted approximately fifteen years. I was placed on dialysis and then got another cadaver kidney which lasted the expected five to seven years. I am currently on dialysis and awaiting another kidney soon. My real life hero is my mother because she not only raised me to be the man I am today, but she saved my life. I love her so much and I wouldn’t have the life that I do today had it not been for her caring and generous heart.
