Stories of hope

Liza, kidney/pancreas recipient

Liza smiling as her dog kisses her

Liza learned she had diabetes when she was 17 years old. The disease resulted in a kidney/pancreas transplant in 1997 and a second kidney transplant in 2009. Liza spent years receiving medical treatment so it is appropriate that she now works for the VCU Medical Center where she received both lifesaving transplants. “I am someone filled with enormous gratitude, a heart bursting with love, and an intense desire to illuminate the inner goodness in people that I am fortunate to see so clearly.”
