Stories of hope

Jen DeBouver: Liver recipient

In 2021, I woke up with severe pain which took months to diagnose. I knew I had polycystic liver and kidney disease but never expected it to come on so quickly the way it did. I got very sick quickly and was lucky enough to only wait a few months before getting a new liver.

Because of my donor, I am able to enjoy life with my family which I am so very grateful for. Six months after transplant, I was able to surprise my daughter by volunteering at her school. This was something I enjoyed doing before my transplant and something she had been asking me to do again.

Because of my donor’s selfless decision to be an organ donor, I have a second chance at life and am living life to the fullest.
