Stories of hope

Nicole Sharkey: Time is spelled L.O.V.E

Let me introduce you to my daughter, Lillian Mae Sharkey. She was born January 28th 2018. She comes from a family of five sisters. She resides with her mother and her youngest sister, Adaline Sharkey. Her parents share joint custody and she visits her father and other sisters every other weekend.

Lillian was born with a very rare liver disease known as biliary atresia. When she was four-weeks-old she had her very first surgery to correct an issue concerning her bile ducts. Unfortunately, this surgery was not successful and when she was five-months-old she received a lifesaving liver transplant.

This liver was from a deceased donor who was in their early twenties. It amazes me that my daughter’s liver is older than she is. Lilian’s gift of life allowed us to have more time with her. In our home, time is spelled LOVE. Because of organ donation, we have more time to love are sweet Lillian. Time with her is something we will always cherish.
