Janice Castro-Reed of Fairbanks, AKI've been living the past 17+ years on borrowed time, thanks to my "Kidney Hero," Todd Castro. To save my life, my brother donated one of his kidneys to me on 11/23/1994. Most recently, I received a second kidney transplant on April 27th, 2012 from my "Kidney Angel," and now live to pay it forward.
Words can never express the gratitude and appreciation I have for having been blessed twice with the "Gift of Life." Today, I live my life with intent and purpose, and am committed to helping others with their individual challenges while they are working towards "Winning the Fight Against CKD."
Through advocacy, community outreach, and education, I am dedicated to helping raise awareness for (1) Organ, Eye, and Tissue Donation (2) Living Organ Donation, (3) Preventing, Detecting, and Treating CKD, and (4) mentoring others who are living with CKD.
I enjoy sharing my personal story and experiences of almost 20 years of living with CKD. You're welcome to contact me if there's anything you'd like to talk about that I may be of some help with.
Take care and best wishes, "Love your Kidneys!"
